Five Quarters
Recipes and Notes from a Kitchen in Rome

Rachel Roddy
Saltyard Books

Winner of the André Simon award, Rachel Roddy’s first book is a homage to her home neighbourhood of Testaccio in Rome. Montage spreads and chapter openers of street photography place the traditional area of the city at the heart of the book. The typeface alludes to the journal-like nature of the writing and informal style of the recipes. The design aims to reinforce the evocative nature of Roddy’s cookery writing and storytelling. Photography by Nick Seaton and Rachel Roddy.
